After obtaining a degree in dental surgery, 3 years of specialization that include both theory and practice are necessary to claim the title of Specialist in Orthodontics.
Access to this training is subject to a highly selective exam.
This specialty is recognized by the Conseil de l’Ordre & Social Security.
All Orthodontic Specialists are Dental Surgeons, whilst only 5 to 6% of Dental Surgeons are Orthodontic Specialists.
Dental surgeons specialized in Orthodontics are registered at the Conseil de l’Ordre and are sworn to practice orthodontics only.
